Reflections on the celebrations in honor of Our Lady of Pompei

We have just concluded the festivities in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, in the idyllic setting of the homonymous Monopoli and always attended church in the town. The party, traditionally in the countryside mark the beginning of autumn, closing the festivals and celebrations in the countryside and in cities that only resurfaced in December with the Immaculate Conception, in an atmosphere full of Christmas. Pompeii is the home of the largest Italian shrine dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, is venerated in a famous picture painted in the eighteenth century. Much is heard and recited the famous Supplication to Our Lady Pompeii, written by Blessed Bartolo Longo, a great promoter of Marian devotion and the image of the town bell.
